Baden advances to Air + Style semis
February 20, 2017
Steamboat Springs — Steamboat Springs snowboarder Nik Baden had enough to make the semifinals on Saturday at the Air + Style big air snowboarding competition in downtown Los Angeles. He couldn’t piece together a good enough jump to advance from there, however.
Baden landed his first jump of the qualification round, scoring a 70.00. He didn’t land his second, but the first was good enough to put him into the top half of the 29-rider field and include him among the 16 riders qualified for the semifinals.
He couldn’t land as clean of a jump there a day later. His best score in three attempts was his first try, 65.66. He scored 15.33 on his last two chances and finished 15th when the top eight riders advanced to finals.
Max Parrot, the 22-year old Canadian, won the event.
