PLEIN AIR PAINTERS WORKSHOP PLANNED
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Small Works Gallery at the Depot Art Center presents the Plein Air Painters Workshop in the Plein Air Exhibit now through Monday.
Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
LAST MAD CREEK BARN HIKE ON THURSDAY
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSPartners in Interpretation presents the last free hike to the Forest Service’s Mad Creek Barn to see the new renovations to the historic structure from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday.
Good hiking shoes, water and rain gear are essential. The hike is 4 miles round trip and is an easy to moderately strenuous walk.

HOWLER SLIDE SWITCHES TO WEEKEND HOURS
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Howler Alpine Slide is now open only on weekends through Sept. 30 at the base of the Barrows chair lift at Howelsen Hill.
Adult single rides are $8, two rides for $12 or five rides for $20.
Children single rides are $7, two rides for $12, five rides for $15. Children 3-6 can ride for free with a parent/guardian; children 2 and under cannot ride the slide.

COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE SET FOR OCT. 2 AT AIRPORT
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe community blood drive is from 12:30 to 6 p.m. Oct. 2 at the Steamboat Springs Airport Bob Adams Field.
Tips for giving blood include eating a healthy, low-fat meal within four hours of donation, drinking plenty of fluids before and after donation, and relaxing for 10 to 15 minutes after donation.

MUSEUM OFFERS LOBSTER FEST TO RAISE FUNDS
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSHands-On! Children’s Museum presents a Lobster Fest as a fund raiser for the museum.
Advance orders for live lobsters are being taken now through Oct. 1.
To place your order, stop by the museum on Eighth Street between Lincoln and Yampa.
Lobsters will be available for pick up at the Steamboat Seafood and Meat Company from 3 to 6 p.m. Oct. 5.
Costs: one to four lobsters are $18 per 1.14-pound lobster; five to eight lobsters are $17 per lobster; more than eight lobsters are $16 per lobster.
