MUSIC ON THE GREEN ON THURSDAY

STEAMBOAT SPRINGSStrings in the Mountains presents the final Music on the Green free chamber music concert with Teresa Steffen, Mary Beth Norris and Bruce Dean at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at the Yampa River Botanic Park. Strings also presents a final concert with Asleep at the Wheel at 8 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Strings tent in Torian Plum Plaza. Tickets for the western swing band are $25 and available at All That Jazz and at the Strings box office.

PARTNERS OFFERS MAD CREEK HIKE

STEAMBOAT SPRINGSPartners in Interpretation present a free hike to the Forest Service’s Mad Creek Barn to see the new renovations to the historic structure from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday.



The hike continues every Thursday with varying times from now until Sept. 27, including an extra hike Sept. 15.

Good hiking shoes, water and rain gear are essential. The hike is 4 miles round trip and is an easy to moderately strenuous walk.

BARBECUE SET FOR SENIORS PROGRAM

STEAMBOAT SPRINGSSteamboat Springs Parks and Recreation Department presents a barbecue and potluck from noon to 3 p.m. Monday at the recently renovated Mesa Schoolhouse as part of the 2001 seniors program.

Parks and Rec will provide the burgers, everyone else should bring a dish to share. You will have the opportunity to win door prizes.

LITERARY SOJOURN TAKES OFF SEPT. 8

STEAMBOAT SPRINGSBud Werner Memorial Library and Off the Beaten Path Bookstore present the ninth annual Literary Sojourn Sept. 8 at the Strings in the Mountains tent in Torian Plum Plaza. Featured authors are Chris Bohjalian, Andre Dubus III, Jacquelyn Mitchard, Sena Jeter Naslund and Donna Gershten. Registration is from noon to 12:30 p.m., author presentations and edible treats from 12:30 to 5 p.m. and a book signing and reception from 5 to 6 p.m.
