ARTS COUNCIL ACCEPTING WINTER WORKS ENTRIES
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Steamboat Springs Arts Council is accepting slide entries for Winter Works 2002, to be held Jan. 18 to Feb. 24 at the Depot Art Center in Steamboat. The theme for this exhibit is “Wordplay.” Artists are asked to interpret the theme in any form, ranging from the literal to abstract. Winter Works 2002 is a juried exhibition with cash awards given. Open to all media, except video and installations. Entry deadline is November 30, 2001. All work must be for sale. The SSAC will retain a 25 percent commission. The show judge will be Susan Shatter. WOMEN’S CLUB TO HONOR ACHIEVEMENTS
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Yampa Valley Business and Professional Women’s Club invites all women to help celebrate the 73rd commemoration of the National Business Women’s Week to honor the achievements of working women throughout history. The Steamboat Springs club will have an Asian buffet with discussion focused on women in the workplace from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 18 at the Steamboat Grand. Cost is $18.
Call 870-3435 by Oct. 17 to make reservations. A celebration of Yampa Valley’s Woman of the Year is Oct. 27 at the Steamboat Chamber Resort Association. There will be a gala dinner. Call the Chamber at 879-0882 to make reservations.
Fall dance to feature
a variety of styles
Promethea Dance Project’s annual fall dance concert including jazz, modern, African, tap and ballet is at 7 p.m. Oct. 19, 20, 26 and 27 at the Seventh Street Playhouse.
Tickets cost $12 for adults and $6 for children and seniors and are available at All That Jazz.
CMC TO OFFER COURSE ON COMMUNICATIONS
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSColorado Mountain College sponsors a course on listening to enhance personal business communication from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday.
A pediatric first aid and CPR course will be offered from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 20. Register at CMC or call 870-4444.
LUTHERAN WOMAN’S GUILD TO HOLD SALE
STEAMBOAT SPRINGSThe Lutheran Woman’s Guild fall rummage and bake sale is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Oct. 26 and from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 27. Rummage is being accepted from Oct. 15-24. Clean items in good shape can be dropped off at the church on Amethyst Drive.
No tires or appliances accepted.
A portion of the proceeds will be matched by Lutheran Brotherhood and will go to help terrorist attack victims.
