Area track teams headed to Grand Junction for meet

— The Sailors, Tigers and Rams high school track and field teams begin regional competition Friday at Stocker Stadium in Grand Junction.

Steamboat Springs, which is in the Class 4A Region 1, will compete against Battle Mountain, Delta, Glenwood Springs, Montrose, Montezuma-Cortez, Rifle, Palisade and Moffat County.

Starting time is at 9 a.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday.



The Class 4A state meet will be May 18 and 19 at Jeffco Stadium in Lakewood.

Hayden and Soroco, who are in the Class 2A Region 5, also are at Stocker Stadium for regionals this weekend.



They will go up against Crested Butte Academy, Crested Butte Community School, DeBeque, Grand Valley, Mancos, North Park, Norwood, Nucla, Dolores, Dolores County, Ouray, Plateau Valley, Silverton, Telluride, Ridgway, Vail Christian and West Grand.

The Class 2A state meet will be May 18 and 19 at Dutch Clark Stadium in Pueblo.
