The Yampa River Botanic Park is inviting local youth to celebrate community, have fun, and get creative by constructing unique houses for the park’s smallest summer inhabitants.

The Annual Fairy Garden House Contest will take place June 9 and entries are due no later than June 7. The contest is open to children of all ages, but one builder must be under 12 years of age. The Yampa River Botanic Park Design will be judging and require designs to be no larger than 18 inches square, and 12 inches high.

Designs need to be made of natural materials, such as wood, stone and sand, with no plastic or pixie dust. Most themes are welcome, but participants are asked to stay away from religious or political themes.

Judging will take place at 11:30 a.m. on June 9, immediately following story time. Winners will receive an annual membership to the Yampa River Botanic Park and other special prizes. All submissions will be featured in the park’s Fairy Garden Village throughout the summer.
