— Colorado Senate Minority Leader Josh Penry, R-Grand Junction, has selected state Sen.-elect Al White, R-Hayden, for a spot on the Colorado Tourism Office Board. White, who served on the board as a member of the state House of Representatives, will take the place of outgoing Sen. Jack Taylor, R-Steamboat Springs.

White, who was term-limited in the House, was elected to the Senate on Nov. 4.

“Sen. White’s experience working in the tourism industry, not to mention his previous service on the board, makes him an ideal choice for this spot,” Penry said in a news release.

White has previously owned and operated ski and bike shops as well as a mountain lodge in Winter Park.

Last week, White said protecting the tourism’s office annual $20 million appropriation would be his No. 1 priority as a member of the state Legislature’s Joint Budget Committee.
