Adult open gyms begin

Volleyball, basketball held

The Steamboat Springs Parks and Recreation’s adult open gyms have begun for people interested in playing recreational volleyball and basketball.

The sessions are open to any person 16 or older who is not involved in a varsity sport.

The sessions will run every week through April.

Adult basketball open gym is from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Steamboat Springs High School, 45 E. Maple St.

Adult volleyball open gym is from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays at Steamboat Springs Middle School, 5100 Amethyst Drive.

The cost for each session is $3 and participants are asked to bring a pair of nonstreet shoes to keep gym floors in good condition, program organizer Christina Freeman said.

Adult open gyms are a drop-in format and teams will be formed once play begins. Basketballs, volleyballs and nets will be furnished.
