Accident leads to DUI arrest

— A 23-year-old Steamboat Springs woman was arrested early Thursday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after she crashed her car in North Routt County.

Colorado State Patrol Trooper Brett Hilling said Ashley Anne McMurray was driving her 1988 Subaru wagon north on Routt County Road 129 when she hit a slope near C.R. 550 and launched her car into the air.

The woman’s car flew 14 feet before coming to rest on its nose, police said.

Hilling said McMurray was intoxicated at the time of the accident and that her blood alcohol content was over .1 nearly four hours after the accident occurred at 1 a.m.

After the accident, McMurray apparently walked from the scene of the accident to Columbine Cabins where she reported the accident around 2:30 a.m., he said. McMurray was alone at the time of the accident, he said.

McMurray had been drinking at a Clark bar before she began driving, he said.

McMurray was wearing her seat belt at the time of the accident, Hilling said.

McMurray also was arrested on suspicion of careless driving and driving under denial, Hilling said.

The accident is still under investigation.
