7 vehicles broken into

Seven car stereos were stolen out of at least seven vehicles early Saturday morning, Steamboat Springs police Officer Brian Rogers said.

The vehicles were parked in various locations in town, including residences on Tamarack Drive and Eaglepointe Drive, and a business on 13th Street. The stereos were worth at least $1,200, Rogers said.

Some of the vehicles were left unlocked. Two vehicles had broken windows, and one vehicle was entered through a soft top, Rogers said.

“We think they were taken early this morning, but we’re not sure exactly when,” Rogers said. “Most of the owners woke up this morning and noticed they were gone.”

Police are not sure how many people were involved in the thefts, but an investigation is under way. If caught, suspects could be charged with first-degree criminal trespass, a felony.
