2019 Best of the Boat youth sports coach: Michael Britton

In his third year with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club as the Alpine U14 coach, Michael Britton spreads his love of skiing with dozens of young athletes each year.
Before moving to Steamboat, Britton began his coaching career in his home state of Wisconsin.
He recently received his Level 300 coaching certification. It’s the passion and enthusiasm that Britton brings every day into coaching that sets him apart.
Britton says the primary thing that appealed to him about the job in Colorado was how the club “is closely tied to what is happening in the community.” He was also drawn to the program’s rich history.
The coolest thing about the kids he coaches, Britton adds, is that “their buy-in and dedication is huge.” He loves watching their growth over the course of a season, both as people and athletes — “and to be a part of that.”
