Three milestones in one!

That’s the ski tune being sung by Ski Haus, which, celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, reeled in accolades this year for Best Ski Shop, Best Ski-Snowboard Tuning Shop and Best Sporting Goods Store — no easy task in a heralded ski town like Ski Town USA.

Whether you go there for tunes, ski and snowboard gear, apparel or anything else you need to enjoy the outdoors, Ski Haus has been a staple in the Yampa Valley for decades. For tunes, manager Murray Selleck says it’s their combined years of experience that shines through, as well as state-of-the-art tuning machines.

“We don’t just have kids off the street tuning,” he says. “Our tuners and repair technicians have been at it for years. There’s a lot that goes into a sweet-skiing ski.”

For sporting goods, he adds, they carry all the sub-categories of today’s major outdoor sports as well.

For biking, this includes mountain, road, gravel, townie and electric bikes, and for camping, everything to satisfy through-hikers to car-campers.

“We have the whole gamut for everything,” he says. “Things have gotten pretty specialized, and we pay attention to all of them.”

Owner Rod Schrage, who has run the store for more than four decades, adds that it boils down to a great product mix and even better employees. “We just have a great, core family of employees, some of whom have been here for 30 years,” he says. “When people walk in, they always see a friendly face.”
