2019 Best of the Boat property management company: Resort Group
If you live or work in Steamboat Springs, chances are you are somehow connected to the city’s largest family-owned business, Resort Group.
“We’re not owned by a hedge fund company or some outside company,” says President Mark Walker. “It’s all family and locally owned.”
After 30 years of being in the Van Baak and McDowell families, Resort Group represents more than 5,000 homeowners and more than 100 homeowners associations. It employs 170 full-time workers, which grows to 350 during the winter. Walker says it’s these employees that make the company run so smoothly.
“Resort Group has six independent companies under our umbrella, and those are the names everyone knows,” says Walker.
So next time you see a shuttle or work van pulling up with a name like Pioneer Ridge or Mountain Resorts, know that there’s a real family and hometown folks behind the scenes.
