2019 Best of the Boat Italian food: Mambo

Molto Buono.

That’s what voters are saying to Mambo, which raked in Best Italian honors once again in this year’s voting.

Credit its homemade pastas, pizzas and more, all made from fresh ingredients that stand out just like Italy does from the Mediterranean coastline.

“We take classic Italian food and give it a modern twist,” says owner Hannah Hopkins, crediting entrees prepared by executive chef Joseph Campbell. “We have a great team that puts their heart into everything we do. Everyone’s super passionate about what we serve.”

Another key, adds manager Sean Wilber, is its homespun pasta.

“We make our own fresh pasta in-house daily,” he says, adding you can find it in their lasagna, fettuccine, linguini, squid ink linguini and more. “Not many people do that. Our cooks come in at 2 a.m. every morning to roll out the pasta dough and cut it into the different noodle types.”
