2019 Best of the Boat interior designer: Michele McCarthy, Vertical Arts Architecture

Moving to Steamboat Springs in 2013, Michele McCarthy of Vertical Arts Architecture has won the Best Interior Designer category for the past two years, which she credits to both her ability to build relationships with her clients and to being a part of Vertical Arts’ great design team.

“I become friends with everybody that I work with,” says McCarthy, who ran her own design firm in Florida for 15 years. “When you work well together, you become a team that wants to achieve the same goals.”

McCarthy’s design portfolio goes well beyond pillows and curtains, as she helps homeowners and businesses select cabinets, interior trim and “all the fixed finishes.” She knows that every design decision helps lead to a finished space that clients love. “There’s a lot of work that goes into how things complement each other,” she says.

Her peers at Vertical Arts appreciate her skills. “She’s experienced and talented, with a great ability to connect with a wide array of clients and project types,” says VA principal Brandt Vanderbosch. “Michele is an amazing team player who works with the rest of the VA team to create inspired and authentic spaces that smoothly blend style and practicality.”
