2019 Best of the Boat furniture store: Annie’s Home Consignments

Annie Tisch estimates she’s seen more than a half-million items in the more than a decade since she opened Annie’s Home Consignments, a fact that helped propel her to this year’s furniture store crown.

“I do a lot of research and am constantly learning,” says Tisch, who owns the store with her husband, Chris. “I talk to people and learn, and the owners tell me stories about their items.”

She says she strives to know as much as possible about every piece in her store, and finding out is one of the most enjoyable parts of the job. So is carrying a product mix that caters to everyone.

“I’m not pigeon-holed to one style or taste,” she says of her furniture and home décor wares. “It’s a true mixture of everything. We even have stuff for tourists to put in their bags. We’re not just for homeowners — anyone who comes to town will enjoy a trip here.”

Throughout all these years, she’s stuck with her business plan — a 50/50 split with customers, without any wholesale merchandise mixed in — and strives to keep the store fun and interesting.

“It’s really fun in here,” she says. “People come up from Denver just to come into the store. It’s still never the same store twice.”
