From ski bum to Zamboni driver to doctor… it’s no wonder Dr. David Niedermeier was voted Steamboat’s favorite doctor once again. It’s like he’s one of us.

“I love it,” says Niedermeier about bumping into patients in the grocers and on the slopes. “It’s a job that allows you to be woven into the community. I went into family medicine because I wanted to live in a small town.”

But Niedermeier doesn’t see it as his win, but one for Steamboat Medical Group. “It’s a team approach, from when you check in and when you leave,” he says. “There are employees who have been here 20-plus years as well as some fresh faces.”

In the age of insurance red tape, Niedermeier says his patients appreciate that details are getting handled so appointments run smoothly. “I have a partnership with my patients,” he says. “My job is to take an unbelievable amount of healthcare information and boil it down for that particular patient.”
