2019 Best of the Boat candy/sweets store: Fuzziwig’s Candy Factory
A family vacation to Steamboat just isn’t complete without a stop (or two or three) at Fuzziwig’s Candy Factory at Ninth Street and Lincoln Avenue.
Owned by Trish and Don Grueser, who’ve been in the candy business here for 23 years, Fuzziwig’s is a candy-lover’s paradise, literally filled, floor to ceiling, with edible treats.
“We know candy,” says Trish. “And we love being part of people’s experience in Steamboat. It never gets old.”
The Gruesers, as well as their daughter and buyer Kim Cardille and store manager Audrey Zwak, are used to hearing superlatives from customers.
“We really try to treat our locals well,” says Cardille, also touting the store’s handmade products and up to 36 flavors of ice cream. “We get a lot of references to Willy Wonka, and we also hear, ‘This is the best place in the world,’ which we love,” adds Zwak.
