Edging out The Laundry by just two votes this year — after tying for first last year — The Barley Tap and Tavern has been voted town’s Best Bar both for its beers and ambiance.

Entering his third year of ownership, Justin Keys has fast made it a locals’ favorite, with 31 beers on tap and a list that rotates almost daily. He has also opened The Barley’s doors to nearly every nonprofit in town by hosting fundraisers and serving as a meeting place.

But it’s the beer and cheer that bring people back.

“Craft beer is at our heart,” says Keys, who also offers a wine, cocktail and food program. “It’s those beers that are unique, rare and not on other taps around town. There’s no formula for what we have. We try to balance it so even the pickiest beer drinker has something they can enjoy.”
