2019 Best of the Boat bank: Yampa Valley Bank

Yampa Valley Bank Powers Community. This is the motto that Yampa Valley Bank hangs its hat on, and what its customers can expect when they do business with Steamboat’s only community-owned bank.
Overseen by a 16-member local board in Steamboat and a 12-person local advisory panel in Craig, YVB’s mission is to put the community first.
President PJ Wharton says, “We offer personalized and easy-to-use banking services in-person and online, remote deposit capture and ‘Free to Roam’ ATM services, and we encourage community involvement among our employees.”
Between ownership and employees, Yampa Valley Bank is involved in over 25 local community nonprofits and the bank sponsors countless events.
“Because of our local ownership, we understand and support the key organizations of the Yampa Valley,” adds Wharton. “We make local decisions, represent the community, and are absolutely committed to the Yampa Valley.”
