2019 Best of the Boat auto mechanic: Mikey McGlone, West Side Auto

John F. Russell
Graduating from Steamboat Springs High School in 1997, Mikey McGlone began working at Westside Automotive alongside his mother right after school.
In his 22 years in the business, Westside has evolved, grown and changed locations.
But today, McGlone, who is the sole owner, has simplified the operation to himself and one other employee, focusing on the general maintenance that keeps people safe: oil changes, tire repair, brakes, shocks and suspension and tune-ups. But he’s always happy to refer people in need to his many friends in the industry.
McGlone has also found a niche with a strong list of corporate clients who rely on him to keep their vehicles running safely year round.
He’s fast, efficient and always has a loaner car to let customers borrow. And he’s always good for a little joking around — and making sure people aren’t taking things too seriously.
