2007 county budget approved
December 14, 2006
Steamboat Springs — Routt County Commissioners adopted the county’s 2007 budget Tuesday.
The adopted budget includes $69.6 million in projected 2007 expenditures and $52.8 million in revenues. In 2006, Routt County will have spent $73.5 million while receiving $64 million in total revenues.
The county projects $25.3 million in reserves at the end of 2007.
Capital projects dominate the county budget and are a large part of what county finance director Dan Strnad has called the county’s “record-setting capital spending” on construction. Those projects include the new terminal at Yampa Valley Regional Airport, the Routt County Justice Center and reconstruction of Routt County Road 27, which runs from Oak Creek to U.S. Highway 40 east of Hayden.
Strnad and commissioners approved $4.5 million in additional spending after a public hearing last month, including $727,000 for the county’s Purchase of Development Rights land use program and numerous salary increases for county staff.
A public copy of the adopted 2007 budget is in the county’s accounting offices on the first floor of the Routt County Courthouse Annex at 136 Sixth St.
