— The Steamboat Springs Art Council is offering two opportunities for the community to purchase holiday gifts created by local artisans.

Holidays in the Rockies takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at Strawberry Park Elementary, 39620 Amethyst Drive.

More than 50 vendors will display and sell arts and crafts. The family-friendly event will include an opportunity for children to take their photo with Santa Claus between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Refreshments will be available.

The Steamboat Springs Arts Council will also host its December exhibit, “Gift,” beginning Friday evening at the Depot Arts Center. It will be open to the public through the month.

The exhibit was one of 2015’s most popular shows because it offers locally made, fine art in a variety of price ranges.

Artists donate one handmade ornament to sell as a fundraising effort for the Steamboat Springs Arts Council. The ornaments will be on display at the Depot along with additional original artwork, including photographs, handmade cards and jewelry.

The items are typically some of the most affordable artwork exhibited during the year.

The exhibit first opens from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday as part of First Friday Artwalk and will then be on display during the Depot’s weekday business hours and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekends.
