1st-half hole sinks Soroco boys
Steamboat Springs — A slow start cost the Soroco High School boys team Saturday on the road against Lake County.
The Rams trailed by as many as 16 in the first half en route to a 73-61 loss.
“We started out really slow offensively, disjointed,” coach Shawn Hayes said. “Our focus and concentration on the offensive end in the first half really hurt us.”
Lake County scored 24 points in the second quarter where Soroco scored just 12. That helped to open things up, though Soroco did manage a big comeback in the second half. They closed within two midway through the fourth quarter but couldn’t ever make up the last bit of that deficit.
Warren Hayes led the team with 18 points. Eric Logan had 14 and Cory Anderson 11.
“It was just a little too much to come back from,” Shawn Hayes said.
The team dropped to 7-5 on the season and next plays Tuesday at North Park.
