$1K reported stolen from lodge

Police are investigating a possible theft at Eagle Ridge Lodge and Townhomes.

On Wednesday, Paula Oakeshot reported that more than $1,000 was missing from her family’s lodging at Eagle Ridge Lodge in the 2800 Eagle Ridge Drive. The family is visiting Steamboat Springs from Australia because Oakeshot’s daughters are competing in a Triple Crown softball tournament, said Steamboat Springs police Officer Dale Coyner.

Oakeshot told police she left about $700 in American currency and $350 worth of Australian currency in a suitcase in her bedroom closet, Coyner said. When she returned later in the day, she said she found the money was missing.

Officers could not find any sign of forced entry to the lodge or any physical damage to the lodge door, he said, but police are investigating.
