— A 19-year-old Steamboat Springs man faces two felony charges after police said a debit card was stolen from a car in the Fairview neighborhood and then illegally used.

The Fairview resident reported Nov. 23 that his wallet and debit card had been taken.

On Thursday, Dakota Zehner was arrested on suspicion of identity theft and conspiracy. His bond was set at $5,000 on Friday, and he is due back in court at 1 p.m. Wednesday.

According to an arrest warrant, the debit card was used to buy $70 worth of gas. During two other attempts to use the card, the card was declined.

Police used surveillance video footage to identify Zehner as their suspect. During an interview Zehner told police that a friend had given him the card to use, the warrant states.
