15-goal outburst earns Steamboat girls lacrosse winning record

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — The Steamboat Springs High School girls lacrosse team ended its season on a strong note and with a winning record after knocking off Palmer, 15-5, on Friday in Colorado Springs.

The Sailors got a big performance from their seniors. Isa DeMorat helped lead the team with three goals and four assists. Thyme Zuschlag, also a senior, scored two goals.

Riley Schott had four goals and an assist. Lucy Shimek had two goals and two assists and also logged a strong day in draw control, helping the squad to maintain possession for much of the game.

Kelly Strotbeck, Alexa Paoli and Alicia Mitchell scored one goal each while Julia McCarthy had two assists. Astraia Dahlen logged three saves in goal.

The team led 7-4 at half and expanded upon that in the second, earning assists on six of seven second-half goals.

The win bumps the Sailors to 8-7 on the season, securing their second winning season in a row.
