Friday, March 2
Parents Night Out
5 to 8 p.m. | Emerald Mountain School, 818 Oak St.
Emerald Mountain School eighth graders are hosting a Parents Night Out, featuring an evening of games, activities, a movie and dinner for pre-kindergarteners to fourth-graders. $20 per child. All proceeds benefit the Emerald eighth-grade Washington, D.C. trip. To sign up, call 970-879-8081.
Blacklight Climbing Night
6 to 9 p.m. | Love Climbing Adventures, 2673 Jacobs Circle
Wear the brightest neon for blacklight climbing at the gym with $5 of every admission donated to the Colorado Mountain College climbing team.
Comedy Hypnosis fundraiser
6:30 p.m. | Steamboat Springs High School, 45 Maple St.
The Steamboat Springs National Honor Society will host a comedy event featuring a hypnotist and entertainment. Proceeds from $20 tickets will benefit one of the following nonprofits, Safe and Sound Schools, Partners in Routt County, Integrated Community and Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide (REPS), depending on a vote of attendees. The Echo Base Quartet
9 p.m. | Old Town Pub, 600 Lincoln Ave.
The Echo Base Quartet is a four-piece band from St. Louis that specializes in progressive, fusion and Tryna rock music.
10 p.m. | Schmiggity’s, 821 Lincoln Ave.
Rowdy Shadehouse is a Denver-based funk rock band that will take to the stage at one of Steamboat’s downtown music venues.
Saturday, March 10
Ski & Lunch
10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Stagecoach State Park, 2550 Routt County Road 14
Explore six kilometers of groomed trails while getting an introduction to winter landscape and activities available at the park. The event is free, but a valid parks pass and touring skis with edges are required. Intermediate ability level skiing. Pre-register at 970-736-2436. Spaces are limited, and lunch will be provided.
El Kabong with the Van De Carrs
8:30 p.m. | Hahn’s Peak Roadhouse, 60880 Routt County Road 129
El KaBong, a Steamboat favorite, featuring locals Peter Van De Carr, Gretchen Van De Carr, Tommy Larson, Mick Paulis and Eugene Buchanan.
10 p.m. | The Press, 1009 Lincoln Ave.
Spend the evening with DJ Skipper, JJ Fras Kid and Don Viper, who will be spinning hip-hop, reggae and dance party tunes.
Sunday, March 11
2018 Snow Design: Snow Stitching in Nature
2 to 4 p.m. | Carpenter Ranch, 13250 U.S. Highway 40, Hayden
Volunteers meet at the Carpenter Ranch near Hayden, and the group will walk the meadow until 4 p.m., but folks can leave earlier or stay later. Participants must bring their own snowshoes, snacks and water.
Local Author Series
3:30 to 5 p.m. | Catamount Lakehouse, 30215 Waters Edge Trail
Chris Diamond, ski industry consultant, author and former president and COO of Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp., will discuss his book, “Ski Inc.” A short reception and Q&A discussion will follow.
