Beauregard

September 16, 2020

William Arthur Beauregard, known and loved as Bill or Billy, was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. He passed away too soon, but peacefully in September of 2020 from a rare rapidly progressive neurological disease. Bill graduated in the class of 1975 from Shrine High School in Royal Oak, Michigan. A favorite spot was the family cottage on the St. Mary’s River in Sault St. Marie, Michigan. He had a natural affinity for carpentry following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather.

His heart found a home in the Rocky Mountains when his brother John invited him to be a part of Beauregard Construction. Bill became a cherished community member of Steamboat Springs and Oak Creek, Colorado. He ran his own sawmill, did specialty woodwork and masonry. He had that rare and prized combination of focus, pride and precision with the spirit of a true artist. Bill loved working on his own beautiful log home near Stagecoach Reservoir. In addition to his carpentry he was a vital part of Howelson Ski Hill, making snow and running the lift. In the summer he would tend the parks and ball fields for the city. Bill was an expert hunter, fisherman, mountain climber, biker, skier, sailor (on water and ice!), potter, and cloud watcher.

Those lucky to know Bill were graced by his generous, compassionate nature. There was always a warm, joyful light in his eyes. May we remember this light and strive to continue bringing it forth in our lives. Peace be with your spirit.
