Obituary: Susan Adele Swigert

December 01, 1946 — November 23, 2019

Susan Adele Swigert was born December 01, 1946 and passed away peacefully in the early morning of November 23, 2019 with her three beloved dogs by her side. Sue was the daughter of Dr. Harry and Irene Swigert and is survived by her three sisters Gloria Redick, Karen Puck, Pam Stevenson and friend Eloise More. Sue graduated from the Community College of Denver with a degree in nursing and was a practical nurse for many years in Steamboat Springs, a town she loved. Rescuing dogs was a joyful purpose of her life, and she cared for these furry family members with unceasing devotion. She found joy in plants, particularly succulents, and tended to them with pleasure. Sue was a quiet person, but always enjoyed spending time with her family and neighbors. She had a quick wit and loved to laugh and enjoyed sharing her day with neighbors when she walked the dogs along the country road near her home.

As Vice President of the Swigert Corporation, she enjoyed the cabin that has been a part of her family for generations and spent time there almost daily with her dogs. She loved connecting with other family members when they visited the cabin, and she’d share stories about family history.

Sue passed quietly in her home surrounded by those that loved her. We are grateful for the lessons Sue taught us in loyalty, devotion and loving the simple things in life. We will always cherish the memory of our Aunt Sue.
