John 'Skip' Thomas O'Meara April 15, 1941- November 18, 2017

April 15, 1941- November 18, 2017

John “Skip” O’Meara, 76, of St. George, Utah went to be with his Lord after a courageous battle with illness. Skip, a graduate of CNWCC, served the Routt County community well as a mechanic with Florquist Mobile, teaching heavy mechanics at CMC, and managing several area auto repair businesses over his career. None engaged and excited him more than serving the community as the Transportation Manager for the Steamboat Springs School District, where he took great pride in ensuring that the fleet of school buses ran reliably through the deepest of winters. Skip loved raising his family in Steamboat Springs and sharing his passion for Colorado, hiking, and the outdoors with his kids. He was a talented artist in a wide range of media, equally at home in his studio with oil paint on canvas as his garage full of tools where he restored classic cars. He especially enjoyed his many years volunteering with the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club and spending time with Steamboat’s Nordic Olympians. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dolly O’Meara; his children Scott & Margret O’Meara, Daniel O’Meara, Elizabeth & Allen Englert (O’Meara), Julie Olimpio (O’Meara), Scott & Elena Grigsby, and Stacie & Tyler Holt (Grigsby); and his grandchildren Megan, Brendon, Alec, Nate, Bradley, Amanda, Layla, Ethan, Zach, Pierce and Truman.
