Janet Rickarby Regan, (November 30, 1926 – April 22, 2020)was born in Lynn, Massachusetts and grew up in Marblehead, Massachusetts on the Atlantic Ocean. She was the daughter of George and Grace Oliver Healey and devoted sister to her brother Martin. attended Emmanuel College in Boston and later, (while raising 3 young children), obtained her Master’s degree in Speech Pathology at the University of Massachusetts.met her husband Denny Rickarby, on West Dennis Beach on Cape Cod, a story she would tell so fondly throughout her life. They married in 1954 and together they raised three children; Meredith Varzeas, (Kim), Chatham, Mass., Ryan Rickarby, (Cathy), Rye, New Hampshire and Sarah Floyd, (John), Steamboat Springs. Janet so loved her seven grandchildren; Carly, Kirstin and Chas Rickarby, Mario and Kelsey Varzeas and Jordi and Katy Floyd. Denny preceded her in death after a brief but courageous battle with cancer in 1976. In 1990 she married John Regan and welcomed John and his three sons and their children and grandchildren to the family. John and Janet happily traveled the world together until his death in 1997. For those who know her, he was the original “Mr. Good Guy”.s career as a Speech Pathologist for the Springfield Public School System in Springfield, Massachusetts for over 40 years brought her much satisfaction and kept her close to children. Janet loved to converse with children and lit up whenever children were near in her later years. loved people and was always curious about everyone she met. She traveled often and traveled internationally with friends well into her late 80s. Janet moved to Casey’s Pond the day it opened and was proud to be one of the first residents. Although she traveled the world and loved her friends at Casey’s Pond, her heart was in Massachusetts at the beach and in the mountains of Southern Vermont. family’s gratitude for the staff at Casey’s Pond is beyond words. She was loved and cared for everyday that she lived there. While living in Steamboat Janet was greatly supported by the Holy Name Church community and spent many happy Sunday afternoons at the Bud Werner Library. She lived a long and full life, but will be missed terribly.s life will be celebrated at a later date. In lieu of memorials, you are invited to support the children’s section of the Bud Werner Library in Steamboat Springs.
