In Our Shoes: Speak up and speak out

Share your experience with sexual assault as part of the In Our Shoes project.

Telling stories is a way to remove the taboo and stigma that surrounds sexual assault. Stories may involve a personal experience, or you might want to share how someone else’s experience affected your life. Or maybe it’s a story about overcoming sexual harassment, surviving an unhealthy relationship or defying sexual stereotypes.

Submissions can include essays, poems, songs or performance art. Speakers and performers will be required to participate in two rehearsals in advance of the July 27 event, which serves as the culmination of an eight-week investigative series on sexual assault that will publish in the Steamboat Pilot & Today beginning in June.

The In Our Shoes project is a collaboration among the Pilot & Today, Advocates of Routt County, Steamboat Creates and Young Blood Collectives. The presenting sponsor is United Way of Routt County.

The submission deadline is June 1.
