Steamboat Springs — The Hayden Recreation Board again is serving up fun this year with the annual Hayden Daze events.
Hayden Daze kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday, when the beer garden opens and vendors begin serving up food and drinks. The Matt Spinks Trio rock and country music band from Denver will start performing at 8 p.m.
Recreation Coordinator Jill Delay is expecting another big crowd. She guessed there were 250 people at last year’s concert, and it was difficult to get people to call it a night.
“People were just having a good time,” Delay said.
All of the events except Saturday’s parade at 10:30 a.m. will be held at Dry Creek Park.
In recent years, the town had organized Hayden Daze, which used to be known as Colorado Days.
“We didn’t want it to die, so the town of Hayden picked it up,” Delay said. “It’s a gift from the town to the community celebrating us.”
Saturday’s festivities include several competitions. A tournament will be played beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the park’s popular disc golf course.
“We’re excited about that again this year,” Delay said.
The Hayden Booster Club is putting on washers tournament beginning at 11:30 a.m., and a corn hole tournament is at 1:30 p.m.
There will be free entertainment for kids beginning at 11 a.m. with a bounce house, giant slide and hamster balls. Kids also can explore fire trucks and emergency responder vehicles from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The vendor booths and beer garden will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Our vendor booths have doubled this year,” Delay said.
