Top 5 events this weekend
Steamboat Springs — School is officially out, and summertime is finally here. It’s about time, most of us would say. There’s a lot going on this summer, and Explore will continue its weekly Top 5 Events section through September.
To kick off the first weekend in June, there’s a lot going on. Not only is it First Friday Artwalk, Sunday is the Steamboat Marathon. If you’re looking for live music Old Town Pub, Schmiggity’s, The Steamboat Smokehouse, Aurum Food and Wine, Karma Wine Bar and Lounge and Hahn’s Peak Roadhouse will offer a wide variety of music all weekend.

Winter Gardens Free Children’s Orchestra Spring Concert
The orchestra will present its spring concert with a Star Wars Theme. There will be a Star Wars costume contest with prizes beginning at 5:30 p.m., as well as a photo booth and piano raffle. After the concert, there will be a free movie from the Star Wars trilogy. Come one and all to support the string music program.

Yoga Birthday Celebration
The Yoga Center of Steamboat is celebrating its second anniversary Saturday. Alex Mathisen, owner of the studio, said they now have more than 15 instructors in the business’ second year with a wide variety of a diverse classes offered. The community will be able to sample 45-minute classes that begin on the hour all day Saturday.

Fishing knots and casting
Join Interpretive Ranger Laura for a day of learning beginner fishing knots and casting techniques near the Elkhead boat ramp at Yampa River State Park. All ages are welcome. The event is free with a $7 daily park pass or annual entrance pass.

Stand Up Comedy
This weekend’s headliner is Bobby Crane, from Denver’s Comedy Works. Opening for him will be the comedy juggling duo of Scott Parker and Kelly Anzalone. Because of adult content, the show is intended for those 18 and over. Tickets are $10 and available at chieftheater.com or Shoe Chalet and Boutique next door to the theater.

Event will begin with a potluck lunch at 1 p.m. Guests are asked to bring a favorite side dish or dessert to share; the main dish and drinks will be provided. Music will be provided by Belinda Rossi and Gene Sanders, along with a selection by Rose Karow. The Yampa Museum, adjacent to the picnic location, will be open, and a Historic Tour of Yampa will be offered at 3 p.m., weather permitting.
