Steamboat Springs — YVRA assistant airport manager selected
Dean Smith, former maintenance superintendent at Yampa Valley Regional Airport in Hayden, has accepted the position of assistant airport manager.
Smith, who has more than 35 years of experience in the aviation industry, came to YVRA two years ago. His previous experience includes military airfield management and owning an executive charter operation.
As assistant airport manager, Smith will be responsible for terminal operations and customer service, and assist Airport Manager Dave Ruppel in directing day-to-day operations.
LIFT-UP coat drive at Ace, City Market this weekend

LIFT-UP of Routt County is sponsoring a winter coat donation drive from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Ace Hardware and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at City Market. Hats and gloves in good condition may also be donated. Coats will be processed, cleaned and given out at the LIFT-UP Food Bank starting Thursday. Call 870-8804.
Transportation to VA medical centers available
Transportation to the Grand Junction and Denver VA medical centers is available for veterans who are unable to drive and who have an appointment Monday through Friday at either hospital.
This service is available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Call the Veterans Affairs Officer of Routt County at 879-5489 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange transportation.
Veterans are encouraged to take advantage of the medical services available to them through the VA. Entering the VA medical system requires a copy of your DD 214 and about 20 minutes to fill out a form with the VA officer.
The Routt County office is in the Workforce Center in the Sundance at Fish Creek shopping center. The office is open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Wednesday.
