Christmas tree helpers needed for annual auction
Steamboat Springs — The Friends of the Christmas Tree Festival group is looking for nonprofit organizations to participate in its annual Christmas Tree Auction on Dec. 7 at the Routt County Fairgrounds. Call Lori Laird at 846-0782 or Sue Fulton at 276-3386 for more information.
Last day for coat pickup through LIFT-UP, Love INC
LIFT-UP of Routt County and Love INC will distribute free coats to those who need them at the LIFT-UP Food Bank through today. One coat per person will be given during regular Food Bank hours, from 1 to 5 p.m. The Food Bank is at the Lufkin Lift-Up Center at 2125 Curve Court in Steamboat Springs. City announces final draft of Parks and Rec plan
The city of Steamboat Springs, along with GreenPlay, LLC, is working to develop a master plan for Steamboat Springs’ Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services facilities and programs and is seeking public comment. All community residents, business owners, sports groups and any other interested parties are invited to visit http://steamboatsprings.net/departments/parks_recreation, to review the final draft of the Parks and Recreation Master Plan. Hard copies of the draft plan are available at the department office on Howelsen Parkway. Call 879-4300. The final plan will be presented to the Parks and Recreation Commission at a meeting this winter. Pending commission approval, the document will then go before Steamboat Springs City Council.
Adaptive Recreation Sports program seeks volunteers
STARS, Steamboat Adaptive Recreation Sports, is seeking volunteers for the 2008-09 winter ski and snowboard season. Volunteer orientation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Round-Up Room at the Steamboat Ski Area.
STARS volunteers will learn how to assist instructors with adaptive equipment, as well as how to help instructors with their students with special needs. Volunteers will have the opportunity to earn daily lift tickets, deals on ski and snowboard equipment and training clinics for your own skiing and riding skills. For more information, call 871-5371.
