Two vehicle crashes reported Sunday
Colorado State Patrol Trooper Tonja Cowan reported two vehicle crashes Sunday. The first occurred at about 8:30 a.m. on Colorado Highway 131, near turnoffs for Routt County Road 14. A southbound driver crossed the center line and collided with a northbound driver, Cowan said. The southbound driver was cited for careless driving and transported to Yampa Valley Medical Center with minor injuries. The northbound driver was not hurt.
The second crash occurred at about noon near mile post nine of Routt County Road 129, when an elk ran onto the road and “broad-sided a car,” Cowan said. The driver was not injured. The elk died shortly after the incident.
Depression, Bi-Polar group will not meet July 4
The Depression and Bi-Polar Support Group will not meet July 4. The group’s next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. July 18 in conference room 2 at Yampa Valley Medical Center. Call Ronna Autrey at 875-2941 or 871-0682.
High Country Garden Tour is July 14
The 12th annual High Country Garden Tour begins with coffee and pastries at 8:30 a.m. July 14 at Strings in the Mountains Music Festival Park. A special guest speaker will lecture at 9 a.m., and tours of six local gardens are from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The guest speaker is Panayoti Kelaidis, director of outreach at Denver Botanical Gardens. Tickets are $22. Call 879-5056, ext. 105. VIP tickets are $50 and include lunch and transportation to each garden in an air-conditioned tour bus.
