Opera volunteers get free admission to ball
All current and former volunteers for Emerald City Opera are asked to call the opera office at 879-1996 for details on free admission to the 2008 New Year’s Eve Emerald Ball, from 9 p.m. to midnight Dec. 31 at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort’s Grand Ballroom. Featuring live dance music, desserts and fine wines, and a chance to win a real Emerald jewel, this year’s ball is a tribute to the opera’s many volunteers, who have helped the company reach its seventh season.
Pink scarves on sale for breast cancer awareness
For the fifth consecutive year pink scarves are on sale at Epilogue Book Co. on Lincoln Avenue, in time for the holiday season, with all profits benefiting the Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Program. Donations of funds or yarn also can be made. Call Jo at 846-2627.
Young singers invited to join musical chorus
Colorado Mountain College invites interested young singers, ages 7 to 14, to join with the Emerald City Opera Youth Chorus in the “Carmina Burana” musical performance Jan. 16. Interested singers should attend rehearsals from 6 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the Steamboat Springs Middle School band room. Call 871-4883.
