Steamboat Briefs for Dec. 22
A wild game benefit dinner for two local children is Jan. 3 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Proceeds from the dinner will help pay the medical expenses of Routt County youths Molly Look and Tyler Johnson.
Both children will attend the dinner with their families. The dinner is being sponsored by Holy Name Catholic Church, but all other church members of the Steamboat Ministerial Association will be invited to participate.
The wild game is being provided by local hunters and fishermen and includes entrees of pheasant, elk, moose, caribou, halibut and smoked wild boar sausage. Smoked trout and pike will be available as appetizers.
Others in the community are donating salad, vegetables and desserts. Seating is limited to 175 people. The cost is $50 a person.
Reservations may be made by contacting Carol Ward at the Holy Name office on Oak Street, 879-0671.
Organic food delivery to donate to LIFT-UP
Door to Door Organics, a weekly produce delivery service, has added a philanthropic component.
Michael Moss, who runs the Northwest Colorado branch of the business, is offering a program through which customers can donate $1 a week with their order. Door to Door will match it and donate food boxes to LIFT-UP of Routt County.
For each new member who signs on for the LIFT-UP giving program along with their weekly fruit and vegetable box delivery, Door to Door Organics will make an additional $5 donation to the fund. To learn more, visit http://colorado.doortodoororganics.com.
