— The NORCO West 16s club volleyball team netted a third-place finish at a Lakewood tournament Sunday to finish its season with a 17-10 record overall.

Though the team played in the 16-year-old age division, most of its members were a year younger. Kaitie Breisch, of Steamboat Springs, and Jessica Mathews, of Craig, were the only sophomores on the team. Seven Steamboat Springs High School freshmen – Meghan Rabbitt, Molly Dierdorff, Maggie Stanford, Kailee Duryea, Addie Sulentich, Callie Hvambsal and D.J. Ditter – rounded out the squad.

Darcey Miller and Sara Ferris coached the team.

Highlights of the winter season included winning the Rocky Mountain Region Power 1 Tournament in Fort Morgan in January and netting a top-five finish in the Select Division at the Colorado Crossroads Tournament in Denver in March. The team competed in five power tournaments, winning at least two of four matches at each.

Steamboat Springs-based NORCO West is affiliated with the NORCO Volleyball Club based in Fort Collins. NORCO West fielded competitive teams at age levels 14, 15, 16 and 18.
