Kip Tirone hits ace at Haymaker

— Kip Tirone has hit a lot of tee shots he thought were going to go in the hole.

On Saturday at Haymaker Golf Course, the 2-handicapper finally hit one that did.

Tirone picked up his first hole-in-one on No. 12, using a sand wedge from 145 yards out. Tirone said he hit what he thought was going to be a good shot. But with wind sweeping from right to left, he wasn’t quite sure what would happen.

His ball hit 8 feet behind the hole before snaking its way back into the cup.

“Oh, it was exhilarating when I saw it go in,” Tirone said. “You hit so many good shots in golf. But you’re not expecting it to go in; you’re usually telling it to go in. When it did, I was jumping around like a little girl.”

Tirone ended up carding a 2-over-par 74 – something he classifies as his usual game.
