Steamboat Springs — Need a get up and go boost in the morning? Or maybe a quick healthy snack in the middle of the day? Looking for a little something after dinner to curb the sweet craving? Can there really be one thing that satisfies all these questions? The answer is yes! And it comes in the form of a delicious and nutritious smoothie!
Grab your blender, fruits and veggies, a nut butter and some seeds plus a protein source and you are ready to go! Add in great tasting flavor and a to-go glass and you have yourself breakfast, lunch, a snack or a fun dessert.

Participate in The Longevity Project
The Longevity Project is an annual campaign to help educate readers about what it takes to live a long, fulfilling life in our valley. This year Kevin shares his story of hope and celebration of life with his presentation Cracked, Not Broken as we explore the critical and relevant topic of mental health.
- 2 scoops of your favorite protein powder (I like Vega)
- Handful of spinach
- 3 tablespoons of almond butter
- Handful of blueberries
- 1 frozen banana (a tip here-buy a bunch of ripe bananas, peel them, cut them up, and freeze them for later use-genius really)
- 1 scoop of flax seeds
- Almond milk or coconut water to desired consistency
- 1 frozen banana
- Handful of frozen mango
- Handful of greens (of your choice)
- 3 to 5 pitted dates
- Vanilla protein powder
- Squeeze of lemon
- Green tea to desired consistency
Dessert in a glass
- Can of pumpkin puree
- A few dashes of cinnamon (desired amount)
- Handful of kale
- Almond milk to desired consistency
The very best thing about smoothies is that they are portable, convenient and easy to make. On second thought, the best thing about smoothies is you can really get creative and put whatever combinations of fruits, veggies and protein you like in them and it still works.
Smoothies are good for you in so many ways to provide extra nourishment throughout the day. Plus, you can really trick people (those who hate veggies or think kale and blueberries don’t go together) into thinking they are having a milkshake. And if that didn’t entice you enough, check out this website for more reasons that smoothies are awesome, easy, nutritious and fun!
Happy smoothie making dear friends.
