Salted Caramel Brownies

— Ingredients

2 squares unsweetened bakers chocolate

1/2 c. butter

2 XL eggs

3/4 c. sugar

1 t. vanilla extract

1/2 c. flour

1/8 t. salt


Pre-heat oven to 375; grease 7×11 baking dish

Coarsely chop chocolate squares; melt chocolate squares and butter in the microwave, stir every 30 seconds until melted.

Beat eggs until they turn thick and pale yellow.

Gradually beat in sugar until thick and fluffy.

Add chocolate and vanilla

Add flour

Pour into greased dish and bake for 25 minutes.

Cool thoroughly before adding topping.

For Caramel Topping ingredients

1/4 c. butter

1/4 c. brown sugar

3 1/2 T. evaporated milk

1/4 T. vanilla

1/2 c. powdered sugar

1 oz. bittersweet chocolate chips

1/8 t. coarse sea salt


Melt butter over medium heat

Add brown sugar and 1 1/2 T milk; cook for about 2 min, stirring

Remove from heat and add vanilla and powdered sugar; whisk until smooth.

Spread over cooled brownies; let stand for 20 min.

Combine 2 T. milk and bittersweet chocolate chips and microwave 45 seconds or so until smooth; stirring every 20 seconds.

Drizzle chocolate sauce over carmel topping and sprinkle with sea salt.
