Q. What's the biggest risk you've taken recently?

Recommended Stories For You

A. Riding down Storm Peak when I couldn't see more than a foot in front of me, the wind was carrying me down and my binding was dangling off my right foot.

Q. Describe your morning routine.

A. Roll out of bed. Brush teeth. Run out to heat up car. Struggle to have positive thoughts about the following workday. Park in the Knoll lot. Shoot photos.

Q. Has a book ever changed your life? What was it and why?

A. "Brave New World." It was the first book we read in school that freaked me out about the future because I believed it would happen.

Q. What's the best piece of advice you've ever been given?

A. "Sometimes not knowing what you're doing is the best thing."

Q. What three things would you want people to know about you?

A. My name is spelled with a "K," not a "C." I need my solitude or else my mind gets cloudy. I couldn't make it up Howelsen my first time mountain biking.

Q. What did you want to be when you grew up?

A. A pseudo-bum selling paintings on the boardwalk in Venice Beach, Calif. I just wanted to be an artist and live near a beach.

Q. If you could invite any four people to dinner, who would they be and what would you talk about?

A. Salvador Dali; I just want to get inside his head. Thom York, of Radiohead; I'd like to know the process of his music writing and how Radiohead got so huge. Eugene Hutz, of Gogol Bordello; I'd ask him about the gypsy punk life and growing up in Ukraine. My father; that would be a long, awkward time.
