RECIPE: Mountain Tap Brewery’s Yer State Beer

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS — Mountain Tap Brewery has taken the saying “the best of both worlds” to a new level with its newest brew. Yer State Beer raises a glass to the popular Steamboat Springs band Yer State Birds and Colorado all in one American-style lager.

There isn’t an exact ingredient list and recipe since this is a Mountain Tap specialty product, but Steamboat Sips did its best to lay out how it was done.

All Colorado-sourced ingredients

  • Malt: grown and malted at Monte Vista’s Proximity Malting
  • Chinook and crystal hops: grown and processed at Paonia’s High Wire Hops
  • Yeast: propagated at Woodland Park’s Brewing Science Institute

As Steamboat Pilot & Today’s Julia Ben-Asher reported Friday, May 10, Yer State Bird band members and Mountain Tap brewmaster Rich Tucciarone got together to add hops to the brew kettle, hose down the floor and shovel out spent grain from the mash tun.

The group brewed 14 kegs of the beer, and it is available on tap and in 32-ounce crowlers. But hurry to grab a taste, the beer is only available while supplied last.
