— This year’s Hayden Farmers Market will be more than just a place to buy and sell anything from fresh produce to homemade crafts, Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors President Pete DeWolf said.

Instead, DeWolf said the market will include live music, demonstrations from Routt County 4-H participants and just about anything to unite Hayden.

“We’re doing everything we can to really work not just as a Chamber, but what we can as the glue of the community to bring things together,” he said. “I’m encouraging people who don’t have anything to sell to come down anyway.”

The third annual Farmers Market runs from July 8 through Sept. 9. After being located on Walnut Street in downtown Hayden the first two years, the market is moving to Yampa Valley Feeds.

Owner Tammie Delaney, a Farmers Market committee co-chairwoman, volunteered the Yampa Valley Feeds location after last year’s organizers passed along those duties. She said it will help foster the idea that the Farmers Market can be a catalyst to getting the community together to have fun.

For example, Delaney said a community barn dance would take place after the first Farmers Market.

Yampa Valley Feeds’ east warehouse, where the barn dance will be held, also will provide cover for Farmers Market vendors during inclement weather, Delaney said. She said it also should be easier logistically without having to close Walnut Street, set up and tear down by a certain time every Friday.

But Delaney didn’t rule out a return to downtown Hayden.

“I think as it continues to get more sparks of life into it, we should always evaluate it year by year,” she said about the Farmers Market location. “We’re thrilled to host it this year, but that doesn’t mean that if others step up to organize it, it can’t move again.”

Even though there’s less than a month until the Farmers Market begins, there’s still time for vendors to sign up, committee co-chairwoman Rebecca Wattles said. She said the Farmers Market isn’t looking for anything in particular.

“At this point, we’re pretty much open to whatever anyone would like to do,” Wattles said.

The cost for vendors is $5 a week or $40 for all 10 weeks. For more information or to sign up, visit http://www.haydenmarket.com or call Delaney at 970-276-4250.
