Steamboat Springs — Butcherknife Brewing Company is beginning to incorporate more than just beer for its patrons.

Earlier this month, the brewmeisters welcomed local artist, Rick Noel who showcased his “metallic art” creations. Noel’s architectural applications made from composite metal colorings with the use of acids are still on display in the Tap House.

Not only that, local musicians have begun to offer their talents as a form of live entertainment for thirsty locals and visitors to the Tap Room.

This Saturday, acoustic duo Craig Thornhill and Paul Geppert will perform from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Butcherknife Brewery Tap Room. Their show will range in musical genre from bluegrass to reggae and a dash of classic rock. Geppert said there will even be a bit of Bob Dylan and Greatful Dead covers thrown into the mix.

“We do some different thing with the arrangements we choose,” Thornhill said. “We like digging into a song and then maybe mixing the tempo up or changing it a bit. We like to mix it up a bit.”

With an eclectic repertoire, the duo said they like to add a unique twist to each tune to make it their own.

Being a musician for over 20 years Geppert said he’s played in a number of venues throughout his time in Steamboat Springs. But the two agree there is something about Butcherknife’s intimate venue that may surprise an audience.

“It [the tap room] has a living room feel,” Thornhill said. “We really like have the ability to interact with the audience and sometimes they may not expect a show like that. It really adds to the ambiance of going to the brewery.”

Currently, the brews available include Robs’ Blonde, the Amputator, the Bridge, the Hefeweizen and a Morningside Porter.

The show on Saturday is free and open to the public.
