To ring in the New Year, 9th Street Tattoo will be featuring two different artists who share a passion for photography. Julie McNally, a Steamboat local and founder of Mc.Nastritron Image Collective, features a diverse portfolio that captures the beauty found in music, nature, and the skies above. Zsazsa Zahourek, a Colorado native and CMC-Alpine campus alumna, who delivers stunning wilderness images on canvas that illustrate some of Earth’s most remote and breathtaking landscapes.

“Jan in January” the show is titled. It will feature intensely abstract works as seen through the eyes of local artist Jan Maret Willman. A quote she references often about her art is, “Reality is just silence colored in.”

The gallery will feature artists this month. The first is Rick Meoli with his work that resembles contemporary Western art. Saving the West one image at a time. Maggie Smith is the other featured artist who has created a series of monotypes depicting Colorado denizens you might meet during a stroll in the mountains.

Featured Artist will be Leigh Erceg this month. After a nasty fall from a high cliff, Leigh came back from brain injury, paralysis, amnesia and found her way into a new world via art, poetry, science and dance. “Encaustic: Nature as Muse” This national juried exhibition of contemporary encaustic art highlights a variety of techniques, materials and inspiration being used by today’s wax artists. Encaustic encompasses a process where heat is used at every stage of the painting or sculpting, melting a mixture of beeswax, pigment and resin to create a hard texture.
