Steamboat Springs — It seems as though summer events in Steamboat are never-ending. Want to go see a live band from the front range? Go see Yamn. Looking for a family-friendly event? The Yampa River State Park Visitor Center, Steamboat Lake State Park and the Yampa Valley Regional Airport each have fun activities for adults and kids. So this weekend, get out and explore something new.
Campfire and Colorado Storytelling
Join the park’s interpretive ranger for a fun evening around the campfire sharing some local history and excerpts from the book, “It Happened in Colorado” by James Crutchfield. The event is for all ages.

Live music: Yamn
Yamn, the infused electronic quartet from Denver, gives audiences lively beats. They are known for pushing the limits of progressive electro rock with fresh set lists and funk-inspired improvisation. Friday night they will be on stage with special guests, the Mantras.

Wonders of the Wild
This event in the park’s series will feature the Tombstone Nature Trail hike. Meet at the Tombstone Nature Trailhead for a guided wildflower hike and see the spring wildlife. Hike is around one mile. The trail may be muddy. For all ages.

Reopening of Yampa Valley Regional Airport celebration
Before the runway reopens, bring bikes, rollerblades and skateboards and take a ride down the newly resurfaced two-mile runway. Free hamburgers, hot dogs and non-alcoholic beverages will be available. RSVP to 970-276-5001 or email@example.com.

Movies on the Mountain
This weekend, the Coca-Cola Movies on the Mountain series is back. Bring a lawn chair and blanket, and settle in under the stars in Gondola Square. This week’s feature presentation will be “Cool Runnings,” the true story about four Jamaican bobsledders who dream of competing in the Winter Olympics.
